Lauryn is a half-year old!!

Happy 6 months peanut!! I cannot believe that Lauryn is already 6 months old. She's getting so big and she's so happy. Compared to the first few months of her life, she's such an easy baby now. However, when she's mad, she's mad and the whole town knows it :)

Lauryn is working on sitting. She can sit assisted in the boppy for a few minutes, and also if she's on our lap, but she's still having trouble unassisted. She topples over quickly :) She'll get it though! She's also discovered that she enjoys bathtime now! For the first 4 1/2 months she screamed and screamed when we'd put her in the tub, so we'd been doing sponge bathes. I decided to put her back in the big tub...she's going to have to learn to like it sooner or later, and now that she sits up in there, she LUVS it!! She plays with the toys and splashes the water. When she's a little more sturdy, then I'll let her take a bath with Addison! That should be fun.

We've also been eating veggies on a regular basis. She's tried carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, and green beans. I think by far her favorite is green beans, and her least favorite is carrots. Hopefully I'll get some new pictures of the girls up soon! Take care!

Random Update

Hello! It's been a few days since I've last written, so I thought I'd throw out a short update on the girls. Addison is still working on the potty trainging...some days go much more smoothly than others, but I realize it's a learning process and it's going to take her a while to get it down. I'm hoping by the end of August, she'll be dry all day, but we'll have to play it by ear and see how it goes. Her vocabulary is expanding daily and the new words and phrases that come out of her mouth just crack me up...Her new phrase, "Mama, I pook." She's saying "I puked," even though she doesn't and it's hilarious...I think she got it from listening to us say, "Lauryn puked again!" Haha :)

Lauryn is doing well with the baby food. She's tried carrots and sweet potatoes and by far favors the sweet potatoes. Next week we're going to try squash. She's still a rolling maniac, but has no desire to sit. She'll do it for a few minutes, but then flops over. She'll get it eventually but she makes me laugh when she flops over. We go for her 6 month appoinment soon and I'm worried about her reaction to shots. She's done alright the last few times, but lately she's been running a fever, and then it disappears only to come back a few days later. It's strange. I blame it on the weather. Oh well! Here are a few new pics of Lauryn. I'll add some of Addison tonight...enjoy!

Silence is....BEAUTIFUL!!

Last night I went to sleep with both girls in their beds..without a fuss. I didn't expect to sleep long as Addison isn't transitioning to her new bed well, and Lauryn doesn't like her crib, but I woke up at 5:30 AM when the alarm went off. I quick ran to check on both girls, and they were fast asleep! Yay for sleeping babies...especially when they're in their own rooms!

Big changes in the sleeping department!!

We've had some major changes in sleeping habits all throughout the house. Last night, Lauryn FINALLY slept thru the night in her own room. I laid her down at 9:30 and she didn't wake up until 5:30! That's 8 hours of sleep in her own room. I'm hoping it's a trend that is going to stick.

We also switched Addison to her toddler bed...Holy Moly!! The poor kid cried for an hour before Mommy finally realized that she wanted the door open to go to sleep. I only had to get up with her once to get her to lay down and then she was fine. I'm hoping it's just a phase and she'll start sleeping on her own soon! So many changes...I think I was up more than anyone last night...checking on both girls. Hopefully we have another peaceful night in our home :)

Houston...Lauryn has

toes!! It's too cute! She has discovered the fact that she has toes, and has been fascinated with them since she's woken up. I forgot how cute this stage is...when they are discovering the whole world around them. Makes me smile. She is so cute and innocent. Here's a pic of my peanut and her toes :)

Introducing the girls' newest friend....

Boots, our kitten!

She's beautiful! She's all black with four white paws and a white belly! Addison is absolutely head over heels in love with her, but unfortunately Boots is still pretty scared and keeps hissing at her. I've been able to pick her up a couple of times, and then she's fine. I think it's just going to take a couple of days for her to warm up to us. If we would have been able to, I would have brought one of her sisters with us...but we've already got Sammy. Anyway, Addy is pretty excited...she keeps saying, "Kitty, ere r you?" Too cute :)

Making progress in the potty training department!

I can't believe we're actually getting somewhere with potty training. We haven't really been pushing the issue, but within the last week, something must have clicked with Addison. She has used the potty at least once every day for over a week now, and she's still going! On Wednesday, she used it 3 times, and each time, she TOLD us she had to go. Yesterday she went two times and again told us. I was so proud of her that I let her wear big girl underwear. Yay for my big girl :)

My baby is 5 months old!!

Gosh, I can't believe it's already been five months since Lauryn has blessed our lives. It just doesn't seem like it's been that long. I decided to start a blog to keep everyone up to date on what is going on in our lives and to be able to watch my kids grow. I hope you find it as enjoyable as I know I will!

Lauryn has definately changed in so many ways since she's been born. We started out fighting colic, and it was definately a challenge. She spent most of her days crying, and both Todd and I tried to console her. Luckily, she's outgrown it and she's a much happier baby.

On April 1, Lauryn first rolled from her stomach to her back!! I was so happy, but also thought it might be an April Fool's Day joke. She didn't do it again for another week, and then she was stopless :) She's now rolling in both directions: from her stomach to her back and the minute we lay her down, she will flip to the other side.

She is teething hardcore, although nothing has popped through yet. I'm not getting my hopes up, as Addison didn't get a tooth until she was 8 months old, but maybe! Just maybe she'll get one soon! Lauryn is also eating rice cereal, and this weekend I'm looking forward to starting carrots. It was a rough start with the cereal, but she finally likes it, so I get so excited to feed her. She still makes quite the face when I start feeding her, but after a bite or two she's fine. Hopefully the carrots will be enjoyable for her too! Alright, I better run. Just wanted to say hi! I hope to keep this up to date. Take care!
