I thought I would give a proper update since the other day I was running short on time. My girls are growing up and they aren't my little babies anymore. It really breaks my heart :( I can't believe how big they are getting and how grownup they act for their age.
Let's start with Addison...man, she's a pistol! She can be the sweetest little girl, and within a matter of seconds...BAM! She's angry and ready to hurt someone. She definately has a temper on her, and we're working on those issues with her. She is a hitter and a biter, which makes me as a mother very scared for when she goes to school. We decided last year that it was time to enroll Addison into part-time daycare to help get her acquanted with other kids her age, and to teach her that it's not all about her. She has to learn to share and play with other kids. Thankfully, it's doing some good. When she goes to daycare she is so good for Michelle. She was only in time-out once the entire 8 months she was there. Of course, she was in time-out for biting one of the boys.
She's getting better every day, but when she's home around Lauryn, or even around her cousin, there's nothing to stop her from going off. She doesn't seem to understand that even though they're family, she has to treat them nicely like she does the boys and girls at daycare. It's a work in progress, but she's getting there.
Addy is 98% potty trained. She will go through naps and all day without an accident, but nighttime is still an issue. I think if she really wanted, she could do it, but she likes wearing a pull-up. She tries to wear pull-ups during her nap too. I have to constantly remind her that she's a big girl and doesn't need a pull-up, but 9 times out of 10 when I go in her room to check on her during nap, she has gotten out a pull-up and put it on herself. Little stinker!
We're gearing up for a big year of learning before she goes to pre-school. She knows her colors and can sing her ABC's. However, she doesn't recognize any of the letters by sight or any numbers. I'm looking into some activities that might help with that, and I'm hoping she'll learn some of those things at daycare too! That's where she learned her colors :) She wants to learn and is always asking questions. She wants to be such a big kid. She has baked a cake on her own (Mommy just put it in the oven for her), and helps fold the laundry, and does all these things that a little 3 yr. old shouldn't be doing yet. It makes me sad because she is a little girl now...not my baby. I'm excited to see how she progresses this year getting ready for pre-school. It's crazy to think that in a year, my baby will be in school :( Ok...better get onto an update of Lauryn too!
